How to Choose a Hair Transplant Clinic & Surgeon (Especially in Turkey)

If you’re thinking about a hair transplant, the clinic and surgeon you pick will decide 90% of your result. Price matters, but it shouldn’t be the only filter.

What to look for in a surgeon

  • Board certification & license – Check their medical specialty, where they trained, and whether they’re officially licensed.
  • Experience with your method – Ask how many FUE/DHI/FUT cases they’ve done, success rates, complication rates, and see documented cases similar to yours.
  • Consultation quality – A good doctor explains diagnosis, options, risks, recovery time, and long-term plan. If they rush you or dodge questions, that’s a red flag.
  • Honest treatment plan & costs – You should get a clear plan: technique, graft estimate, risks, meds, follow-ups, and a full price (no hidden add-ons).

What to look for in a clinic (Turkey / Istanbul)

  • Reputation & accreditation – JCI/ISO accreditation, Ministry of Health approval, real reviews (Google, Trustpilot), and word of mouth from past patients.
  • Safety & hygiene – Sterile environment, PPE, proper sterilisation, and surgery done in a real clinic/hospital, not a hotel room.
  • Aftercare & follow-up – Standard follow-up around day 10–12, plus remote check-ins (video/WhatsApp) for foreign patients.
  • Communication – Clear English (or your language), realistic expectations, and transparent answers about risks and outcomes.
  • Medical tourism support – Many Turkish clinics include transfers, hotel, and coordination. That’s nice, but should come after you’re satisfied with medical quality.

Red flags:

  • Pressure to “book now or lose the price”
  • Vague or missing cost breakdown
  • No real before/after photos with timelines
  • You’re not allowed to know who the actual surgeon is

Don’t choose by Instagram ads and cheapest package. Check licenses, experience, real cases, safety standards, and aftercare first. Your donor area is not replaceable.
